TDA2040 IC Hi-Fi Audio Power Amplifier 40V 4A Pentawatt V The TDA2040 is a monolithic integrated circuit in the Pentawatt V package, intended for use as an audio class-AB amplifier. Typically, it provides 25 W output power into 4 Ω with THD = 0.5% at VS = 34 V. The TDA2040 provides high output current and has very low harmonic and crossover distortion. Furthermore, the device incorporates a patented short-circuit protection system. Features: Hi-Fi class-AB monolithic audio power amplifier in a compact Pentawatt V package. Wide supply flexibility can run from single or split (dual) supplies, making it convenient for many amplifier topologies. Built-in protection: automatic short-circuit/power-limiting system and thermal shutdown to improve robustness and protect the IC and output stage. Low harmonic & crossover distortion optimized for good audio fidelity, suitable for hi-fi speaker driving. High output current capability and robust output transistors suitable for driving low-impedance speakers and bridge configurations. Easy-to-use application circuits: reference application circuits, PCB layout recommendations and bridge/mono/single-supply examples are provided in the datasheet for quick building. Good noise and ripple rejection for cleaner sound with ordinary power supplies. Well suited for active crossovers, multiway speaker systems, and DIY hi-fi projects common in small amplifiers and powered speaker designs.
