The robust hinge and textured grip ensure stable clamping and one‑handed operation even in crowded switchgear racks. Once clamped around the conductor, the UT262C instantly powers on and assesses phase rotation. Four LEDs illuminate in clockwise order and emit an intermittent tone for positive sequence; they reverse and produce a steady tone for negative sequence. Missing phases are signaled by an unlit LED, facilitating swift troubleshooting of open legs. After three minutes of inactivity, the unit auto‑shuts off to conserve its two R6 batteries.
