DFPlayer Mini MP3 Module for Arduino The DFPlayer Mini MP3 Module for Arduino adds music, speech, alarms, and sound effects to embedded projects. It reads audio files from a Micro SD card and plays them without requiring complex audio-processing code. The module communicates with Arduino, ESP32, and other controllers through a UART serial interface. In addition, it supports standalone operation through IO buttons or ADKEY controls. A built-in 3W mono amplifier can drive a small speaker directly through the SPK1 and SPK2 outputs. Meanwhile, the DAC_L and DAC_R pins provide stereo audio for an external amplifier or compatible audio input. Key Features Supports MP3, WAV, and WMA audio formats Reads Micro SD and TF cards up to 32GB Supports FAT16 and FAT32 file systems UART serial control interface Default serial communication speed of 9600 baud Built-in 3W mono audio amplifier Stereo DAC left and right outputs Standalone IO and ADKEY control modes 30 adjustable volume levels Six selectable equalizer settings BUSY output for playback-status monitoring Supports up to 100 folders Supports up to 255 tracks per folder Compact 20 × 20mm board Technical Specifications Module Type: DFPlayer Mini audio player Storage: Micro SD / TF card Maximum Card Capacity: 32GB Supported File Systems: FAT16 and FAT32 Audio Formats: MP3, WAV, and WMA Operating Voltage: 3.2V to 5V DC Recommended Supply: Stable 5V DC Control Interface: UART serial Sampling Rates: 8 to 48kHz DAC Resolution: 24-bit Dynamic Range: 90dB Signal-to-Noise Ratio: 85dB Speaker Output: Up to 3W mono Dimensions: Approximately 20 × 20mm Pin Pitch: 2.54mm DFPlayer Mini Pinout VCC: Module power input RX: UART serial data input TX: UART serial data output DAC_R: Right-channel DAC audio output DAC_L: Left-channel DAC audio output SPK1 / SPK2: Direct speaker connections IO1: Previous track and volume-down control IO2: Next track and volume-up control ADKEY1 / ADKEY2: Resistor-button control inputs USB+ / USB-: Optional USB data lines BUSY: Playback-status output GND: Ground connection Applications The module works well in many sound and voice projects. For example, it can add recorded instructions to an Arduino device or play warning sounds during specific events. Typical applications include: Talking robots and interactive models Voice announcements and information systems Electronic alarms and warning systems Smart-home audio notifications Educational Arduino projects Vehicle and navigation voice prompts Access-control systems Automatic advertising players Toys, exhibitions, and scale models Important Usage Notes Use a stable power supply, especially when driving a speaker directly. Furthermore, DFRobot recommends placing a 1kΩ resistor between a 5V Arduino TX pin and the module’s RX pin. Do not remove or insert the memory card while the module has power. Also, file names and copying order may affect track numbering and playback order. The USB data pins do not provide a direct USB connection for uploading files from a computer to the Micro SD card. Package Includes 1 × DFPlayer Mini MP3 Player Module Note: Micro SD card and speaker are not included.
