CD4052BE Dual 4-Channel Analog Multiplexer/Demultiplexer DIP-16 The CD4052BE Dual 4-Channel Analog Multiplexer/Demultiplexer DIP-16 is a CMOS analog switching IC designed to control analog or digital signal routing using digital address inputs. It contains two independent 4-channel sections, commonly identified as X and Y channels, allowing paired signal paths to be selected at the same time. This makes it suitable for differential or dual-signal switching applications where two related signals need to be routed together. The device is supplied in a 16-pin PDIP package, making it practical for breadboards, prototyping, repair work, and through-hole PCB designs. According to the datasheet, the CD4052B uses two binary control inputs, A and B, together with an inhibit input. These control signals select one of four channel pairs and connect the selected analog inputs to the common outputs. When the inhibit input is set to logic high, all channels are turned off, allowing the circuit to disconnect all signal paths when needed. The IC also includes logic-level conversion, enabling digital control signals to switch analog signals over a wider signal range. The CD4052BE is useful in circuits that require compact, low-power signal selection, such as data acquisition, audio signal routing, sensor channel selection, and analog-to-digital or digital-to-analog conversion systems. It offers low quiescent power dissipation, low ON resistance, and very low OFF leakage, helping maintain signal integrity while reducing power consumption. Its break-before-make switching operation helps prevent channel overlap during transitions, making it reliable for precision switching and multiplexing applications. Features: Dual 4-channel analog multiplexer/demultiplexer design. CMOS analog switch with logic-level conversion. Supports digital signal levels from 3V to 20V. Supports analog signal levels up to 20VP-P. Low ON resistance of 125Ω typical at VDD − VEE = 18V. Very low OFF channel leakage current of ±100pA typical. Two binary address inputs for channel selection. Inhibit input turns all channels off when activated. On-chip binary address decoding. Break-before-make switching prevents channel overlap. Very low quiescent power dissipation. 5V, 10V, and 15V parametric ratings. Suitable for analog and digital multiplexing or demultiplexing. DIP-16 through-hole package for easy prototyping and PCB mounting. Input protection through standard CMOS protection network.
