This sensor operates by emitting invisible 940nm infrared laser pulses via a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) and calculating the time taken for the light to reflect back from a target, enabling measurements independent of the object’s color, reflectance, or texture. With a built-in protective cover filter, the module safeguards against dust ingress while providing optical filtering to mitigate interference from daylight and ambient light, thereby enhancing measurement reliability in diverse environments.
