AT24C08 Serial EEPROM DIP-8 The AT24C08 is an electrically-erasable serial EEPROM offered in an 8-lead PDIP or JEDEC SOIC package. It provides 8 Kbit of nonvolatile memory organized as 1,024 × 8-bit words and is accessed via a standard two-wire (I²C-style) serial interface. The device family is designed for low-voltage and automotive environments, giving system designers a compact, low-power means to store calibration data, configuration parameters or small data logs. Internally the memory is arranged into 64 pages of 16 bytes each, enabling page-write operations that speed multi-byte programming. Communication follows the two-wire protocol (start/stop, acknowledge, read/write bit), and the device supports current-address, random and sequential read modes so software can efficiently access single bytes or long blocks of stored data. The WP (write-protect) input offers a simple hardware method to prevent accidental writes. Reliability is emphasized through a self-timed write cycle (typical maximum 5 ms), one-million write-cycle endurance and a data-retention spec measured in decades. Variants cover both 2.7 V and 5 V operation ranges, and the part is commonly used where small, robust nonvolatile storage is required in embedded and automotive designs.
