Description

USB Type-C 5V 2A Power Bank Module The USB Type-C 5V 2A Power Bank Module combines lithium battery charging, battery protection, and a 5V boost converter on one compact board. It is suitable for building DIY power banks, portable electronic devices, rechargeable development-board supplies, and battery-powered projects. The module works with a single 3.7V lithium-ion, 18650, or lithium-polymer battery. It accepts a 5V charging supply through its USB Type-C input and charges the connected battery to the appropriate final voltage. During discharge, the boost converter raises the battery voltage to a regulated 5V output with a maximum rated current of 2A. Features of the USB Type-C 5V 2A Power Bank Module The board includes integrated charging management and protection functions. These features help protect the battery against overcharging, excessive discharge, output overcurrent, and short circuits. Four onboard LED indicators provide an approximate indication of the remaining battery charge. An optional external push button can also be connected to the K control pad for manually activating or deactivating the output and battery indicators. Main Features USB Type-C battery-charging input Regulated 5V boost-converter output Maximum rated output current of 2A Suitable for one 3.7V lithium battery Supports 18650 and lithium-polymer batteries Integrated battery charging management Overcharge and over-discharge protection Output overcurrent and short-circuit protection Four LED battery-level indicators Automatic charging restart Low-battery pre-charge function Automatic no-load shutdown External push-button control connection Compact design for portable projects Electrical Specifications Charging input: 5–5.5V DC Input connector: USB Type-C Battery configuration: 1S Battery nominal voltage: 3.7V Standard battery charge voltage: 4.2V Charging-current rating: Up to 2.4A Boost output voltage: Approximately 5–5.15V Maximum output current: 2A Conversion efficiency: Up to approximately 93% Output ripple: Approximately 100mV Standby battery current: Less than 30µA Low-load shutdown threshold: Approximately 50mA Maximum performance depends on the battery, USB power adapter, cable quality, wiring thickness, temperature, and connected load. A suitable high-discharge battery and short, thick battery wires are required when operating near the maximum output current. Charging and Control Functions Charging normally ends after the battery reaches its final voltage and the charging current falls to approximately 100mA. The charging process automatically restarts if the battery voltage falls below approximately 4.1V. When a deeply discharged battery is below approximately 2.8V, the module may begin with a low-current pre-charge cycle before normal charging starts. The 5V output automatically switches off when the connected load continuously draws less than approximately 50mA. Therefore, the module may not remain active with extremely low-power sensors or devices. Battery Connection Connect the battery positive terminal to B+ and the negative terminal to B−. Check the polarity carefully before applying power. Only use compatible 3.7V rechargeable lithium batteries. Multiple matching cells may be connected in parallel to increase capacity, but they must have the same voltage and condition before connection. Never connect batteries in series because a series battery pack will damage the module. Applications The USB Type-C 5V 2A Power Bank Module is ideal for: DIY power banks Portable Arduino and ESP projects Rechargeable sensor systems USB-powered electronic devices Portable lighting projects Bluetooth audio systems Educational electronics projects Battery-powered prototypes Safety Notes Do not use damaged, swollen, mismatched, or non-rechargeable batteries. Never reverse the battery polarity or short the battery terminals. Ensure adequate ventilation during high-current operation, and do not leave lithium batteries charging unattended.
