74HC251 74251 Signal Switches, Multiplexers , Decoder IC PDIP-16 The 74HC251 is a high-speed CMOS integrated circuit that functions as an 8-input digital multiplexer. Its primary role is to select one of eight binary data inputs and route it to a single output channel. This data selection is controlled by a 3-bit binary address, making it a fundamental building block for managing multiple data streams in digital systems, effectively acting as a digitally-controlled signal switch. A key feature of this IC is its provision of both true (Y) and complemented (W) data outputs, offering immediate logic-level flexibility for the selected signal. Furthermore, the outputs are three-state, meaning they can be put into a high-impedance (high-Z) mode.
