TIC126D SCR Thyristor 400V 12A TO-220 The TIC126D SCR Thyristor 400V 12A TO-220 is a rugged silicon controlled rectifier in a TO-220 three-lead package intended for power control and switching applications, offering 400V repetitive blocking, 12A continuous on-state capability with high surge tolerance, low on-state voltage and defined thermal characteristics for reliable heatsink mounting and thermal management. Features Repetitive off-state blocking voltage of 400V for robust voltage margin. Continuous on-state current rating up to 12A under specified case temperature limits. High non-repetitive surge capability (100A half-sine) for inrush and transient tolerance. Low on-state voltage for efficient conduction and reduced power loss. Moderate gate trigger current for straightforward gate drive implementation. High dv/dt immunity to minimise false triggering in inductive environments. Low junction-to-case thermal resistance for predictable heatsink design. Standard TO-220 through-hole package for easy PCB mounting and heatsinking. Specifications ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM RATINGS over operating case temperature (unless otherwise noted) Rating Symbol Value Unit Repetitive peak off-state voltage V DRM 400 V Repetitive peak reverse voltage V RRM Continuous on-state current at (or below) 70°C case temperature (see Note 1) I T(RMS) 12 A Average on-state current (180° conduction angle) at (or below) 70°C case temperature (see Note 2) I T(AV) 7.5 Surge on-state current at (or below) 25°C case temperature (see Note 3) I TM 100 Peak positive gate current (pulse width ≤ 300 μs) I GM 3 Peak gate power dissipation (pulse width ≤ 300 μs) P GM 5 W Average gate power dissipation (see Note 4) P G(AV) 1 Operating case temperature range T C -40 to +110 °C Storage temperature range T stg Lead temperature 1.6 mm from case for 10 seconds T L 230 NOTES: These values apply for continuous dc operation with resistive load. Above 70°C derate linearly to zero at 110°C. This value may be applied continuously under single phase 50 Hz half-sine-wave operation with resistive load. Above 70°C derate linearly to zero at 110°C. This value applies for one 50 Hz half-sine-wave when the device is operating at (or below) the rated value of peak reverse voltage and on-state current. Surge may be repeated after the device has returned to original thermal equilibrium. This value applies for a maximum averaging time of 20 ms. Applications AC and DC power control including phase angle controllers and light dimmers. Motor control, soft-start and static switching in industrial drives. Inrush/surge handling and transient tolerant switching for power supplies. Switching elements in SMPS, battery chargers and inverter circuits. General purpose power switching and protection circuits requiring a TO-220 SCR. Documents Datasheet
