Power Resistor 5W 1.8kΩ The 5 W, 1.8 kΩ power resistor is a cement-type (ceramic-cased) fixed resistor manufactured with a robust ceramic core and a resistor element of either metal-oxide film or wire-wound construction. Its body is filled/sealed with silicon cement (UL-94V-0 compliant) and terminated with tinned iron caps and tinned lead wires, producing a compact, heat-resistant package designed for steady power dissipation. At its 5 W rating the resistor is intended for continuous operation within the rated ambient (derating applies above 70 °C); it exhibits defined temperature coefficients (metal-oxide ≈ ±350 ppm/°C; wire element ≈ ±260 ppm/°C) and is built to tolerate short-time overloads and pulse stresses within the limits shown in the spec table. The rated voltage is calculated from √(P×R), giving about 94.87 V for 5 W × 1.8 kΩ. The resistor is specified to meet JIS C 5202-based tests: insulation resistance, solderability, resistance to soldering heat, temperature cycling, humidity load life and 1,000-hour load-life tests at elevated temperature all demonstrating stable resistance change limits (typical post-test change limits listed in the sheet).
