With a peak sensitivity at 940nm , it is ideal for IR obstacle avoidance, intrusion detection, and other IR sensing applications. The black lens is specially designed to block visible light, improving IR sensitivity and reducing false triggers from ambient light sources. The diode behaves inversely compared to standard LEDs—it conducts current when IR light is present , making it useful in a wide range of optical sensing and automation projects.
