From Makers Electronics's description
UNI-T UT381 Lux Meter The UNI-T UT381 is a handheld light meter designed to measure illumination levels in indoor and outdoor environments. With a relatively long, narrow body, it includes a large sensor window (often covered by a protective mirror cap) at the top so the light can enter properly. The front panel includes a sizable LCD display which shows the measured light value, plus additional indicators such as unit type, max/min readings, data hold, and more. The device is built to be held comfortably, with buttons placed under the display and a casing that gives a good grip, suitable for field use or laboratory benches. In operation, the UT381 responds quickly to changes in light levels, giving audible or visual feedback when moving between shaded and bright areas. The meter allows switching between units (Lux and Foot-Candles), which makes it versatile for users familiar with different measurement traditions. It includes memory to record previous readings for comparison, so users can watch light level trends over time. Because it uses a 9V battery, it’s portable and usable in locations where mains power is not available. While the meter is fairly simple in its core purpose, its build and design show attention to usability and durability. The sensor cover (mirror cap) protects the sensor when not in use. The display is large enough that even moderate ambient light or angle deviations won’t make it unreadable. Controls are intuitive: switching unit, freezing readings, and recalling max/min values are straightforward. The UT381 is compact enough to carry in a toolbox or bag, but durable enough to be used repeatedly. Overall, its design gives confidence for anyone needing reliable measurement of lighting — whether for ensuring adequate workplace illumination, photography, display lighting or simply checking ambient light in living or growing spaces. Features: Auto/manual range switching. Data Hold (freezes reading). MAX / MIN mode (records highest / lowest light levels). Lux / Foot-Candle unit select Auto power-off (cancelable). Low battery indication. Real-time clock / display of time during recording. Adjustable record interval (0.5 to 255 seconds). RESTORE to default mode.
