Based on the TI CC2540/1 chipset, the module is engineered for flexibility, allowing developers to implement robust Bluetooth connectivity without needing an external microcontroller for basic operations. A key characteristic of the HM-10 is its ability to operate in both master and slave roles, enabling it to initiate connections to other devices or accept incoming connections. The module’s behavior is highly customizable through an extensive set of simple text-based AT commands, which can be sent via its UART interface to modify parameters like the device name, baud rate, and operating mode.
