Description
CD4538 Dual Precision Monostable Multivibrator IC DIP-16 The CD4538 Dual Precision Monostable Multivibrator IC DIP-16 is a dual precision monostable multivibrator IC housed in a DIP-16 package, designed for high-stability pulse generation in digital timing circuits. Each independent section is triggered by either a leading-edge (A) or trailing-edge (B) transition, providing a wide range of output pulse widths determined by external Rₑₓₜ and Cₑₓₜ components connected to pins 6, 7, 9, and 10. The device operates across a broad supply range from 3VDC to 18VDC and features an active-low reset (CD) to immediately terminate the output pulse. Complementary outputs at Q and Q̅ provide versatile logic interfacing, while the VDD and VSS pins at 16 and 8 ensure stable biasing. Its retriggerable capability and 100ns typical propagation delay at 15VDC make it ideal for industrial control systems and precision delay applications. Features Dual independent monostable Multivibrator in a single package. Retriggerable and non-retriggerable operation capability. Wide operating voltage range. High noise immunity (CMOS technology). Stable pulse width determined by external RC components. Separate trigger and reset inputs. Low power consumption. Buffered outputs for reliable digital interfacing. Compatible with CMOS and TTL logic levels. Features Dual Precision Monostable Multivibrator with Independent Triiger and Reset Rising or Falling Trigger Inputs Pulse Duration and Accuracy Determined by External Resistor and Capacitor Wide Operating Voltage Range Low Power CMOS Part Summary Manufacturer Various Manufacturer’s Part Number CD4538 Manufacturer’s Web Site – Futurlec Part Number CD4538 Department Integrated Circuits Category 4000 Series RoHS Compliant – Package Type 16 Pin DIP Technical Data CD4538 Datasheet Here is a monostable multivibrator using IC CD4538. It is a precision monostable/astable multivibrator IC free from false triggering. This can be used for various application in which precise timing cycle is required. CD4538 is the precision monostable/astable multivibrator IC that is free from false triggering. It is more reliable than the popular timer IC 555. Here the IC is wired as a short duration monostable timer using R1 and C1 as timing components. With the given values, output of IC1 remains low for three minutes. By changing the value of C1 or R1 various time intervals can be obtained. Unlike 555 IC in the monostable mode, here in CD4530, output of IC becomes high at power on and becomes low when the trigger pin5 gets a low-to-high transition pulse. When S1 is pressed, the high going pulse triggers IC and its output goes low. This drives the load through the PNP transistor T1.Load can be an LED, Buzzer etc. Schematic of the Monostable Multivibrator Circuit CD4538 Pin Connection
