ULN2004AN Darlington Transistor Arrays 50V 500mA DIP-16 The ULN2004AN device is a high‑voltage, high‑current Darlington transistor array housed in a 16‑lead dual‑in‑line package. Internally, it comprises seven NPN Darlington pairs, each pre‑biased with series resistors and integrated clamp diodes to simplify interfacing and protect against inductive kick‑back when switching loads. By integrating the driver transistors, base resistors, and fly‑back diodes into a single monolithic IC, the ULN2004AN streamlines PCB design and reduces component count. Each Darlington channel is rated for a collector‑emitter voltage of up to 50 V and can sink continuous currents of up to 500 mA. Channels may be paralleled to achieve higher aggregate current. The common‑cathode clamp diode arrangement allows up to seven inductive loads such as relays, solenoids, or lamps to share a single COM pin connection, simplifying power‑rail routing and ensuring robust suppression of back‑EMF. The ULN2004AN variant features 10.5 kΩ series base resistors, optimizing its input‑current requirements for direct drive from 6 V to 15 V CMOS logic. Compared to the ULN2003A (2.7 kΩ) and ULN2002A (Zener‑protected) devices, the ULN2004AN draws less input current and operates at lower input voltages, making it ideal for modern microcontroller and DSP interfaces. Features: 500 mA‑rated collector‑emitter current per channel. High‑voltage outputs up to 50 V. Integrated common‑cathode clamp diodes for inductive‑load protection. Inputs compatible with 6 V–15 V CMOS logic (10.5 kΩ series base resistors). Seven independently controlled Darlington channels in a single DIP‑16 package. From Makers Electronics's description

ULN2004APG Darlington Transistor Arrays DIP-16 The ULN2004APG is a Darlington transistor array designed by Toshiba, which consists of seven NPN Darlington pairs. This integrated circuit provides high-current and high-voltage performance, suitable for driving inductive loads such as relays, motors, and lamps. It is specifically built to handle both high-speed switching and large currents, with built-in features that enhance reliability in demanding applications. The Darlington pairs within the ULN2004APG enable it to drive large loads with small input signals. This makes it ideal for interfacing with logic circuits, particularly in applications that require the control of relays or other high-power loads with relatively low-voltage control signals. It offers significant power-handling capabilities, making it useful in industrial control systems. Featuring integral clamp diodes for protecting against inductive load switching, the ULN2004APG ensures safe and reliable operation even when handling high-energy inductive components. Its compact DIP-16 packaging and its compatibility with both PMOS and CMOS logic make it a versatile choice for a wide range of electronic applications.
