SEMIKRON SKKT 500/16E Thyristor Module 1.6KV 500A The SKKT 500/16E is a high-power dual-thyristor (SCR) module by SEMIKRON, designed for demanding industrial power-control applications. It integrates two series-connected SCRs in a single SEMIPACK 5 package, allowing bidirectional AC control or rectification at high voltage (1.6 kV) and heavy current (hundreds of amps) levels. The module is built on an aluminium-nitride (AlN) insulated metal baseplate, which efficiently conducts heat to an external heatsink while keeping the semiconductor junctions electrically isolated. Internal precision metal pressure contacts (typically using silver or gold alloys) ensure reliable, low-resistance connections even under repeated thermal cycling. According to the manufacturer, this design yields high electrical and thermal cycling endurance for long operational life.
